The fixers’ friend adhesive: perfect for everyday tiling

BAL Gold Star is the ideal cementitious adhesive for most day-to-day tiling, being perfect for a wide range of both indoor and exterior applications. Its versatility, being suitable for so many types of project, makes it the “fixers’ friend” among adhesives. Many professional tilers routinely keep a sack or two on hand, knowing that its suitability for so many jobs can remove the need for a trip to their distributor. “Sooner or later,” said one experienced fixer, “you need BAL Gold Star.”

BAL Gold Star is non-slip, water- and frost-resistant and can be used for dry and wet environments, including showers and swimming pools. It is popular among professionals for its ease of use. The powder mixes quickly to produce an adhesive which spreads easily and gives good coverage, with a pot life of five hours in standard conditions. A single 20 kg sack can cover up to 5.0 square metres of flooring and up to 8.0 square metres when tiling a dry wall.

The cement-based, polymer-modified adhesive is classified C2TE and offers a strong bond with a variety of ceramic wall and floor tiles. These include porcelain and fully vitrified tiles, mosaics, quarry tiles, terrazzo and brick slips. Being grey in colour, it can be used with darker natural stone. With any of these, grouting can begin just 16 hours after tiling.

It is the natural choice for cement:sand screeds and its versatility can be extended by the addition of BAL Admix AD1. This increases adhesion and flexibity, widening its suitability to include anhydrite screeds, suspended concrete floors, overlaid plywood floors, heated screeds and more.

As with all BAL products, BAL Gold Star adhesive carries a full 25-year guarantee. It is available in 5 kg, 10 kg and 20 kg sacks from more than 500 authorised distributors nationwide.
